After years of bloody conflict, as much as 40% of Ukraine is contaminated with mines--buried in rivers, forests, fields, roadsides, buildings and playgrounds. But no mine on earth can out-smart the hunting instincts of a Jack Russell Terrier! “Patron the Great” honours the much-loved mascot of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, who, having sniffed out hundreds of mines, has saved thousands from loss of life or limb. Named “Goodwill Dog” by the United Nations Children’s Fund, the indefatigable Patron is an inspiration to us all!
